| Fishing excellent, caught a fish every third cast usually. Most small but decent, larger than 15cms the norm. Caught one 23cm. The bigger fish are lying deeper just off the drop offs, and there's so many aggressive fish it's hard to get to the larger ones as inevitably your fly gets struck before it sinks deep enough. Very clear water, you can watch all the action.
Be prepared and bring two vehicles, leave one at Cayuse Flats, and the other at the trailhead of the Heather trail. This will net you a far more interesting hike as you don't have to double back. If you take the trail from Heather towards Nicomen, take the Grainger trail out, then the Hope Pass trail to Cayuse Flats. This hike is NOT for the faint of heart, and is 42kms on foot total through mountains. That said, this weeds out most fishermen and leaves unreal fishing for those hardy enough. Bring a full roll of loonies with you, you'll need them for the pay parking machine, it only accepts loonies and quarters and it's a 20km drive to the nearest source of change. Parking rate's $3 a day.
