You seem quite enthusiastic about you fishing exploits, congratulations on your catch. When handling fish that you are going to release you should NEVER place your fingers in the gills, this area of the fish is very delicate and by doing so it could be a death sentence for that fish. If you're going to take a pic gently lift it under the belly and holding the tail. Take a quick pic and place the fish back in the water quickly and it should do no harm.

Why even bother releasing that one? That fish is as good as dead when being handled like that. Look closely at the position of its eyes. fish being held alive usually look down. people need to learn how to catch and release properly.

yes big dan, you must learn proper c+r . there was a post a year ago on proper c +r which i will try to find and bump forwards.
