big nooodle of a rod, cast as far as you can with green spin-n-glows and about 18oz of lead. Thats what im going to do today but from a boat. Or cast with brass spoons but i dont think the ofther bar fishermen would like that too much..

Yeh bar fishing does not go well with spincasting/bottom bouncing
Any recent reports? I was thinking about spending a day sitting in the lounge chair looking at the tip of the rod

all you need at brownsville bar is 2oz. of lead. and roe right on the bottom. The springs hug the bottom and for spin and glows there is not enough current there to use them on a bar rig so use roe by itself.

Also if you want to learn some good bar fishing spots you can by a book called Fishing Fever which lists alot of bars with maps how to get there, what to use etc... its $35 but worth it. Covers Mission to Hope.

For brownsville depending on the tide ...if the tide is all the way out you only need to cast 20 - 40 feet max .!!!! If the tide is high cast further is better for obvious reasons as for as gear get good roe not store bought if possible .regular bar rigs and 3-4 oz weight is enough 9-10 foot rods strong reels and good line 25 pound test and higher rod holder and a chair to kick back o ya bring Lotsa grub
