Is it ice fishing season yet at Yellow Lake or can I go fish the normal way?

i'm sure you would be better off with a boat than an ice auger. i live near chase which is far from yellow lk but you have to get up higher to find ice here so i am sure yellow will be ice free.

I may be driving past there soon. I will let you know if I see boats or ducks standing on the surface. My guess is boats.

yesterday some of the lakes around here had a thin film of ice on them. it is getting close to starting to freeze over but i still suspect the ducks will be swimming when mr jeff drives by

Promised a report and there is no ice, not even around the edges. Ducks are still swimming, but it won't be long.
Hey, I even might join you if I get bored with yard work.

Well, do you really want to know?
Today 19th December the suface was 1/3 ice.
This lake is normally a great place to ice fish between Christmas and the New Year.
Please don't even think about it this year. In no way will it be ready and I guess it will be the same for many lakes this year.
Fish safe and be patient, don't take chances. Have a great Christmas and a fantastic New Year.

i'll second that mr jeff. the lakes around here do not have safe ice yet. they were getting close then we got a ton of snow. have a great christmas mr jeff. maybe next year we can get together for some south okanagan bass or thompson river salmon. that is off course if your new gr kid allows you the time ! have a good one in the meantime!

Drove by Yellow today. There was people walking/fishing on the ice. Didn't have a chance to get out. Anyone been elsewhere in the OK?

Hit Gardom lake for about 4hrs on Saturday and managed 1 about 22in...there were quite a few others out and only seen one other caught at about 18in. Tried out both powerbait and shrimp and the one we did get into was on the powerbait.....same as the 1 other that we seen caught as well
On A separate note (above pic) be sure to use your guards on your ice auger blades before you let someone put it in your trunk while your hands are still organizing things in there!!! I finally decided after about 8hr that the tape n glue home dressing just was not going to do the trick this time so onto the emerg I went at 10pm and had to sit and wait until 5am before they could stitch me up!!....luckily just grazed the tendon and no permanent damage to my reeling hand so 5 stitches later I was good to go lol. Tight lines and may the fish gods shine down on us good this year!

OUCH!
Went past Yellow Lake today as well. The ends look OK but deeper areas still look a bit dodgy.
Try Darke Lake near Summerland or Osprey, Chain, Link Lakes on the Summerland Princeton FSR.
