I've never been out that area. Saw abe's report. Thanks abe, it was a good one! Is the water calm between the Hwy 7 bridge and the train bridge? Would a zodiac inflatable with a small motor work there or would you need a sturdier boat/bigger motor? Thanks in advance.
abe

i would say a small boat would be okay as long as you stay between the two bridges. outside that area you would be asking for trouble.
good luck and stay safe

abe,

I saw your report at Kilby. Do you think have a canoe raw over to the pillars (maybe tie the boat to a pillar) will have much more chance to connect to a fish than fishing on the beach?

I know the best answer is to try it out, but it is 3 hours drive for me, and load/unload the canoe 4 times is troublesome. Thanks for the advice.
abe

ya i would say a canoe should be safe out there, its definatley best fishing close to the pillars in deep water the water is kinda shalow close to the beach.

Thanks for the replies abe!

Thanks, going to Harrison tomorrow with my canoe. Don't have much time for fishing, I will go north as far as I can to explore the area.

Arrived at Kilby at around 10 am, put the canoe in the water, the water is very clear, saw a couple of boats fishing near the #7 bridge.

I raw from Kilby towards North, passed #7 bridge. Saw one salmon swim near the camp ground beach. It is very shallow near the golf Resort, spooked a bunch of fish, couldn't see what they are. saw a few small fish jump.

Pass the golf Resort, it is a very big area with very little water, I tried to find the mouth of Chehalis, but did get there. only have a couple of hours so have to go back.

I found the island between Harrison river and Chehalis will be a great spot for fishing. I guess it will mostly under water when the water is high. anyone tried there before.
