Hey guys i was just wondering if i could get some advice from some of you. Me and my friend are planning a fishing/hunting trip for thanksgiving weekend. We were trying to find a spot we can fish for 3 days and hunt for 3. Some places that we have thought of going are East of Osoyoos lake to rock creek area, or up to the thompson by little fort, or north of powell river(ocean). if we go to powell river we will have a 16ft boat to fish from. The others we would just fish from shore. Can anyone give me advice on these locations for fishing and hunting.

the hunting would probably be best around rock creek. if you got off the beaten path you could get some good creek fishing as well but i'd suggest you throw out your plan and hunt each morning then fish during the day. more chance of success ! the little fort idea could work well too. the deer are much bigger than powell river i suspect . good luck in your trip !

Yeah that what we were debating, bigger fish with smaller deer, or bigger deer and smaller fish. Is there part of rock creek you would suggest, not exact spot just a rough idea. And we can get off the beating path a ways with my jeep, and hike the rest. We thought that up at little fort we might get the mixture of bigger fish and good hunting. I am not looking for tonnes of info just a rough idea to get my research pointed in the right direction

you will find lots of logging roads in the area with either place. more deer at rock creek but bigger at little fort ! also, at little fort, the n. thompson could be fun for fishing. i can understand your dilema........with a jeep you will find lots of roads to explore and places to hike into. make your decision, get some good maps and have fun!

Yeah we have all the maps, we already narrowed it down to those three places. Just trying to do additional research from people that might have been there because we havn't been there before for this type of trip.

I have a property in Rock Creek so I am down there quite a bit on my days off but the fishing is not great so I would recommend you go North. You can fish the Kettle River but you may get skunked and whatever you do catch will be small unless you go east just before Christina Lake I've nailed a few 3lb'ers out of there this summer. Jewel Lake and Conkle are just ok. Conkle is one hell of a shitty road if you go off HWY 33, take the road off HWY 3 instead if you go there. Jewel has some decent fish but it is too easy to get to and over fished. The deer I see are nothing massive but are still good eats.

If I were you I'd go to Little Fort then over to HWY 24. Big fish and big game, just not sure how good it will be fishing from shore for you though.

We always go up to Vernon every thanksgiving and have always had good hunting and fishing up in the lumby and. Cold stream area. King edward lake was always good.

Thanks guys, it helps out a lot. Got a fw new places to do some research and look into openings for both fish and hunting. I think that we are going to go to bring a 16' jet up there now, that it looks better to fish from boat. How are metalheads doing now on the thompson i hear they are beautiful up there, and would like to get into some early in the season?
