Just wondering how fishing has been the past month for everyone? Have people been catching many salmon? How is the trout fishing? Any big guys caught?

I took my lady out in the boat on Saturday {upper reaches of the Lower Fraser} and did some bar fishing for chinnook. Instead of just hitting one of the main bars we found a nice bar all to ourselves and set up shop.
We had a couple spring hook ups, mine was on for only about 5 seconds and then gone, my lady had one almost to the shore when it turned on her and shook loose {she was choked but after a little while she got over it}. We got a quick glimpse of hers and it looked to be around the 15lb to 17lb mark, and silver as could be.
Near the end of the day my rods bell went nuts and thought I had a doozy only to be a sockeye which was immediately set free to do it's duty.
We'll be back out again in the next couple of days to try again as the water quality is getting just a bit better every day that goes by.

BTW, the river dropped a good foot just in the time we were out too, so many more options becoming available for non boaters.

We just got back from a week on the Island. We managed 4 summer steelies on the Stamp and rolled at least that many. We fished salmon off the south end of Hornby and in front of the Big Qualicum but no keepers.Took the kids to the dock at Ford's Cove so they could catch perch which is great for short attention spans. Finally,I was lucky to find a few schools of pinks in front of the beach we were staying at.Managed a half dozen on the fly over a couple mornings.Weather was nice too.

The high elevation Okanagan area lakes have been treating me good lately, but only in the evenings. I stopped morning fishing a couple weeks ago and have resorted to going after work and enjoying the evening on the lakes. The algae blooms have been a real son of a snatch but you find the odd lake without that crap developing. We went down to Osoyoos lake a week ago, dumped the boat in at 5:45am and limited out by 6:45am with some nice little Sockeye. Disappointed that there will be no Sockeye opening on the Fraser this year so we resorted to the Osoyoos lake festivities which we're pretty enjoyable.
