Went out with the little girl today and tried out the Shuswap River. Started at Corner and Slide hole area, got there about 8am, 1 other gentleman roe fishing for springs as well (said he had one on for about 5-10seconds around 7am but that was it). Fished there for a few hours with no luck on any springs but got a couple squawfish on my roe/float setup and then a whitefish and a small bow when I tossed a small spinner around a bit. Moved down and tried a few other spots and holes along the river down to the kingfisher interpretative center just throwing a few casts in while the little one cooled off in the water a bit and got into a couple more of each again. Right at the interpretative center near the creek I got into a nice bow floating roe but he got off about 5ft from shore so was an easy release, lol...might have pushed 3 lbs maybe. Other than that I heard of a couple springs being caught at mable early in the am and I seen one biggun just flying by up river...seen a couple smaller ones go by as well but mainly was just resident fish around for the most part.
Even though there was no luck with the Springs today it was still a great day on the river once again and the little one (5yrs) even caught/reeled in and held her first fish today...Good times and great memories!

Great report, it is nice that you can take the little ones out to enjoy our great rivers.

Msmann, I love these types of stories. I will never forget my son's first fish (caught with me) or my little neice's first fish. This is why we are so passionate about our sport, so we can pass it down and share with the next generation. Kids that learn something this wholesome are more apt to be out pursuing the sport in a healthy atmosphere. Maybe if more people took the younger generation out, we would have less trolls and social miscreants. Maybe I'll meet you one day out there, I was considering checking that spot out myself shortly.
