Good evening all...
Does anyone have info on accessing Murphy lakes? Getting there is not the problem,is it easy to carry a inflatable raft there?
I would like to plan a trip there in a few weeks...
Thanks for your help!

Yes!

When I took the drive in last fall is was smooth for our truck. We did it in 2 wheel drive and did not need to put it 4x4

But what about carrying an inflatable is it possible or difficult from the main road near the lake?
Nano93

I did not go right to the lame As I was out hunting but the guy I stopped and talk to said you could drive right up to it
Big Dan

Sweet!!

Thanks so much
Nano93

Good luck and take a backroads map book with you

are you thinking murray lake off the coq. if so you can drive right to the boat launch on the lake with pretty much any car or truck but i wouldn't want to take a truck with a large trailer behind it (by large i mean 20+ feet)

There is a small walk to the lake, but it is easy enough to carry all your gear and a small inflatable. Try your luck at the first lake, if it is slow cross the lake and follow the path to the marsh and use that trail to access the second lake. Good luck, this can be a really busy lake on the weekends.

Thanks guys!
I make it a priority to fish during weekdays so this way lot less traffic on the waters.
Actually leaving tomorrow for Weaver lake for a few days of camping.
See you all later.

Let us know how it goes, including access. I'd be curious on trying that lake also; however, I wonder if i can get a canoe to it.

Well I made it back.
The exit off of highway 5 heading east is 228.At the stop sign turn right for 6 km,make a right at a sign posting leisure and activities. Then another 4 km to Murphy Lakes.
Its a service road, pretty rough and be aware of the logging trucks and much dust.
We made it to the lower lake only and Ill explain why latter.
The camping at the lower lake is less then rustic, its a survival camping at its best. From the 5 camping sites available (first come first serve)its a 500 foot hike through a wooded trail very narrow. Unfortunately I was unable to bring my inflatable at the lake first being that its somewhat heavy and it would have been awkward to make it through the wooded area available there.

Now about the upper lake.
The lake and the area surrounding it has been sold off to some rich individual,I drove there by back tracking my original route because from where I was there was no more access to the northern lake.
The northern lake is larger but like I said its not accessible. There are warning signs everywhere when you approach the north lake warning you of the private property! And they seem to mean it!!

I did fish from shore not very wide area from shore line but I did try it couldn't cast far enough with my fly rod.
Ill post a few pictures of the place....
Ill add a new topic on the main page!!!
About Lake Le Jeune!

All road access to the upper lake is on private property, but if you cross the first lake, there is a trail to the second lake. The owner of the property is a fisherman as well, and does not mind having others fishing this public and stocked lake, he just got tired of all the yahoos leaving a mess on his property and decided to gate access off to everyone.
BTW Big Dan, any luck with the fish?
Big Dan

Well that's interesting indeed.

No not a bite.

On a side note did you see any grouse. I was up there 2 weeks ago and thr road seemed smooth.
