Thanks Alan701, I think I will try it out this weekend. Float fish some bugs and see if I cant catch some Peamouth chub or some Pikeminnows.

most of the river is closed due to the Ruskin Dam construction. I could barely find parking on the west side of the river and the eastern side (where the park is) is completely closed off. also, the water was way to high to fly fish in waders. gear fishing might still be possible.

Six years, they will be finished in 2018. I have the whole schedual of what they are doing and when.
However, the Hayward Lake Drawdown is just to the end of Aug this year, then again May through Aug in 2013. The water level in the Stave should be lower the rest of the time.

Can you still get to the parking lot, and can you still make it down to the river from the parking lot?

No you can't get to the parking lot or even the section of road going to the parking lot, the construction crews are using the parking lot for the full six years. There is no access to the river on that side, you have to go down the west side...if you can find a place to park.

Thanks ChrisS, I have never fished that side. Sounds like it will be a adventure!
