Does anyone here know what the weekend crowds are like on the Vedder? Twice as busy? Three times as busy? Is there any section that gets more crowded than others that I should avoid?
I try to fish week days, but I have family/friends I'd like to take there who can only fish on weekends, so any info would be great.

Water is high so probably more crowded spots. When water is low even on weekends there is plenty of room.. Some hiking and you can find private spots. Fairly new to the vedder but i havent seen a big difference yet.

I mainly fish the Vedder, hit it today, the first spot I hit was empty (south side by the Vedder bridge), except for all the sox rolling and jumping, no Springs for me tho. Later in the day I walked from Lickman to Peach looking for a spot to fish on the north side, slim pickins for prime fishable spots as any open water had at least a few people fishing it, but as the water levels lower it will open up quite a bit. I didn't see any springs landed or hooked, just a few Sox snagged. Even during the week if you want to fish a hot spot you will be shoulder to shoulder on the lower river.

I went out to peach about 5:30 pm Sunday, I also walked down to Lickman from Webster today at about 6:pm, lots of open water and places to fish, until you get to Lickman road, there were about 12 people fishing the north side bar all in fairly close to each other. Earlier this morning about 9:am I went to a nice run on the south side of Osborne road, and there were only two other people fishing the south side, but about six guys on the north side, still haven't seen a spring yet this year, but it is still early.

The First Nations peoples had an opening to put their nets out on the Vedder river between the mouth and railway bridge for sockeye on the 24th and 25th. They keep all the red springs as bycatch, might explain why the fishing was slow the last couple days. They are dip netting above the Vedder crossing bridge, so don't expect alot in the upper either.
Both the Vedder and Fraser water levels are dropping fast, alot of bars are now coming accessable. When the limit restrictions come off this weekend, I'll be hitting the fraser again.

How are they aloud the take these two nearly exstinct runs. The cultus lake and chilliwack lake sockeye and the red spring run are both very small and shouldnt be open to netting.
Are sure that this info is true?

The bands involved are being alowed 15K surplus Chilliwack lake bound sockeye, they are suposed to release any marked Cultus lake sockeye (aren't running at full stregnth yet). That I am sure. Not sure about Vedder red spring by-catch, but am now hearing they are suposed to release those as well.

Dropping quick. At this rate in 2 weeks it should be normal again. The deep pools are accesible and thats where the springs go

I think netted fish a pretty much dead so they take them as accidental catch and its legal for them to keep.

The openings are for seine nets and dip nets only. But there are reports that they are using gill nets on the reserves (mid river).

Can any one tell me where I should be going on the vedder? I would love to try fishing there and not hike the scale down and up. I know where lickman rd is but do I turn left or right coming from Vancouver?

Also, Instead of going all the way to the Lickman rd turn off, I take a shortcut by turning off (right) at #3 road then turn left on boundary at the T intersection to go over the bridge on to Keith Wilson road. That will take you to Lickman Rd and Peach road past that.
I found the easiest access spot on the south side was "Campground", which is right across the river from Lickman. To get there take the #3 road exit and continue to Vedder mountain road, take that through town (Yarrow) and at the far end follow the signs to the campground (on Geisbrecht Rd). Park to the right before the enterance and follow the short trail.

hmmmm last year I was by No3rd and Boundary rd where the No 3rd makes a big as curve. They were all dead or ready to die pink salmons.

I'm assuming you're float fishing with Roe?

Most people seem to be using roe or shrimp, some were using spinners...all under a float. I tried both roe and shrimp and a spoon for a bit, but kept getting trout.

kind of a waste to go till the nets are done. may want to be ahead of them in the fraser yet. just my opinion how i see the fishing there. not to mention taking fish in a spawn bed im not to into...no offence to those that do

Cool thanks guys. This guy from a fishing store said he was gonna take me and said just buy him lunch. I said I'll buy you dinner at the Keg instead and told him to stock me up with what I need to fish at the Vedder. 500 dollars later, the douche said he'll charge me half price for a guided tour for me and my buddy - 200 bucks. WTF!!!! I got ownnnned

The seine and dip net openings were on the 24th and 25th, it was a bust...they didn't get anything with the high water...lol.

Also watched them with their gill nets out on the fraser, they weren't getting anything there either. Maybe they shouldn't have sold food, social and cerimonial fish from last year...
