I was wondering if someone would explain the fish reports. Specifically what exactly it means when they say...
Current fishing: Fair
What is the order of rating? Fair, moderate, good...what order? And does it mean that the fish amount being caught it fair (or whatever) or does it refer to something else? I'm sorry if I sound really dumb, but I'm new to fishing and want to be good at it...and I think understand the reports is super important. Is there some sort of legend to understand what the reports are saying? If so, maybe someone could link it for me? Sorry again for probably sounding really dumb... and thanks in advance for any help :]

The ratings are pretty self-explanatory but if you do not know the full range, then I can see where you are coming from. So here it is:
Fishing experience: Excellent - The fish were jumping in the boat before the rods were even geared up. So busy handling fish that you pee yourself, not having time to take a leak break.
Good - This fishing is so good, they should start calling it "catching".
Moderate - Hey this is fun, but still enough slow times to enjoy a beverage, sandwich and/or snack.
Fair - Hit and miss fishing.
Difficult - Yup, this is why they call it fishing not "catching".
Unknown - I had whiskey for breakfast, was fed date-rape drugs or was pounded senseless by a sasquatch. I have no recollection of fishing or my own name.
And yes they all refer to how the fishing "action" was.
How busy is the place: Heavy - You could walk across the "body of water" boat to boat. Or like the hordes that show up for the salmon run snag-fest.
Busy - Lines getting snagged, constantly altering course to avoid a nautical demolition derby.
Moderate - Typical busy spot.
Lo - Just you and a few other parties fishing.
Rare - I think I see another boat down there somewhere.
Unknown - I am Helen Keller and have no business operating a boat without a seeing eye dog.
As for "Best Time", I just use that as a "Time that I was there fishing" indicator. Then there are spots where you can describe the lure/bait and another large text box where you can add more detail. You could click on my name and see a couple sample reports, I have done a lot of them.

Hi Gibbz; welcome to the site. If you were wondering about the "rankings"; the order is from little value to very usefull. Has nothing to do with numbers of fish being caught, it is a voted ranking of the report by the members here. It is based on completeness of the report and quality of additional information that is provided.
