I wonder if this will be a predictor of our salmon season this Fall.
The last paragraph:
Though poor ocean conditions have been blamed for a nosedive in chinook salmon in Alaska this year, sockeye have done well, not only in the Columbia, but in Canadian and Alaskan rivers as well.
"Whatever is going on in the ocean is basically being good to sockeye," said Tweit.

Interesting! Maybe more mud in the face of DFO predictions. Doesn't sound good for chinook returns though.

I understand they are catching sockeye on the columbia (without flossing), by using tiny red spin n' glows baited with shrimp; on bar rigs. Think I'll throw a bar rig out in the tidal fraser in Aug with two of those rigged on it: and see what happens. Ya never know! It would be nice to find a way to avoid the upriver flossery.
