Spent 5 days at Island (Big OK) Lake last week. What a great spot! This lake is tucked in behind the Highland Valley Copper Mines (just past Logan Lake) Then once you turn off 97C North it's another 30 - 40 min on gravel road. The road into the lake from the mining road is quite rough (approx. 1-1/2 km) Cars not reccommended even a tent trailer would be tough. We all tented and had trucks so wasn't a problem. Absolutely beautiful area with lots of wild horses roaming free also saw a moose and a black bear.
Fishing was little tough, but we had nothing but time on our hands and were rewarded with some nice fish. It is a single barbless fly only, catch and release lake. All fish were released unharmed after a quick photo.
The weather was relentless though, very windy, wet & cold but the sun did make a few appearances.
For me chironomids where the fly of choice. Green #12 & #14 but red butt under and indicator. Some of my buddies were catching on marroon leetches on a slow troll w/ a sink tip. At times you would catch 2 or 3 fish in an hour and then go 2 or 3 hours with nothing. Hey that's fishing. Here is a few pic's

Another beauty fish caught on a marroon leetch approx. 2 lbs. That seemed to be the average size that we were catching.
