Hi, i am new to fishing the ocean. I will be heading out on my boat to the sunshine coast and strait of georgia. I am hoping to catch cod, rockfish, halibut, flounder. Can any of you guys tell me whether i should jig? Or use bait on the bottom, what depth i should fish? And what bait/jig/lure i should use to catch these fish. And if any of you guys know any good spots around there Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ivan

Make sure you check the regs before you go, the southern part of the sunshine coast is closed to ling cod, rock fish and halibut. You need to go up to Pender Harbour area to get openings. I've always used cod jigs, mooching close to the bottom with live herring could be productive and might get you into salmon as well. This is something I want to get back into when I get a bigger boat.
