I'm thinking about taking the kid out to Whonnock lake next week. What types if bait work best up there ? Worms ? PowerBait ? He is young and thought some bait with a float would work. I don't think he's ready for casting lures for hours.
What do you say ? Any tips ?

Id go with just basic tackle....float fish with the powerbait that berkley specifically makes for crappies , crappies niblets or something like that.! Good luck

The reports on Hatzic lake indicate it has a pretty good crappie fishery as well, shore fishing from Nielson park should be pretty easy (plus you have the park facilites).
Just a suggestion in case you find Whonnock lake too marshy.

Hatzic lake is too far for the ex. She won't let me take the kid that far.
