my buddy was out on shuswap lk on saturday. he hooked a nice trout, about 3 pounds he guesses . it jumped then on the second jump an osprey swooped down and grabbed it out of the air. the hook came loose in the commotion and his fish flew to shore! he figured the fish looked too small to keep , over 50 cm is required, but it was a handful for the osprey. he caught a keeper later. he says things have slowed a bit but his tag is almost full so... on sunday he caught and released a 10 pound steelhead. i've heard of them in the adams river but this one was not going that way. sounds like two fish stories to me , except i believe him !

I've lost fish to loons and seals, and wasn't too thrilled.I think to have an osprey take one would make the day.

Just had to repost this. One of these birds got tangled in my line, but this guy seemed to have the knack of shaking the bird off his fish. (Florida, Fort Lauderdale)

My son and I were at OSPREY Lake 2-3 years ago when same thing happened. A older couple were the only two on the lake cathing anything ,fishing gang troll and a wedding band.So we hear screaming and the ladies gang troll wedding band and fish were circling above her head like a kite. An osprey had taken her fish .....LOL

Now on the other side of the coin, there are guys that fish out of modest crafts (like my canoe) with no onboard accessory power. I keep my eye on those suckers just like others would on their Fish Finder and tend to refer to them as my poor-man's Humminbird...
