Has anyone been to Buntzen Lake lately? Im wondering if the water levels are back to normal? Is it possible to launch a small boat yet? I know the levels were really high all year.
Thanks

Last time I was there was Mid December. The water levels were normal and the boat launch road was open. I dragged a green Doc and a pumkin head on a medium sink line for 4 hours. Got one little guy. That was it.
Good Luck and tight lines

thanks for advising on the water levels! I was wondering myself, because last time I was there the water level was too high, and I had to resort to hiking over to the east side of the lake where the rock bluffs are, to fish from shore. water's deep there, but didn't get a nibble.
Is the fishing any good at this time of the year? Keep in mind I have to fish from shore or the dock. Would I be wasting my time, as I haven't had much luck at that lake the last few times I was there.

In my opinion if your fishing from shore during the winter season you will be wasting your time. Get a boat. Its the only way to go. In the spring summer months there are lots of people shore fishn and catching them. Right now you should be looking at craigslist or buy&sell for a wicked off season deal on a 12' aluminum. I use my 12" Lund with an electric motor on Buntzen Lake every year multile times and ALWAYS catch trout. It is one of my favorite lakes. Its very easy to get to and the water is clean. The fish arent the largest but they do fight really well. Get a boat, you will have so much more fun fishing Buntzen than shore fishn.

Lake levels today were average, no issues getting into the water. The fishing was slow with only 1 fish caught and 1 bite, fished 30 to 60ft from the shoreline around the entire lake

Yes I would imagine the fishing is slow this time of year. The spring summer really make the fish come alive and hit hard. Still any day out on the water is a great day!
