So just wondering if fishing with jigs from the shore in the tidal portion of the fraser works well for chums and coho. I drive all the way to stave river for chum fishing and it's great but the fraser is much closer for me so wondering if that will work because of the visibility.. I know it works for pinks with spoons. I didn't check if people were fishing the shore this fall. Thanks

you will have to wait til next fall to try. It is possible in the non tidal if the water is clear enough

This is an older topic, but thought I'd give my two cents as a new member. I tried float fishing with jigs in the tidal Fraser this year without much luck. Most people seemed to be doing pretty good bar fishing for coho between Langley and Abbotsford. I think you need either scent or viabration to atract salmon in the tidal river water. I was catching Chum and Spring salmon incidently while spin fishing for coho in the same places I fished for pinks back in sept. Like the pinks, some days I was hooking several coho an hour on home made spinners near the shoreline of the upper tidal area. Next season I plan to try some tidal float fishing with bait, I heard a prawn/roe combination works on Chinooks and Coho.

sounds good. Also the current is not strong so I don't need to cast a huge weight. Might try it out.
