funny that on my first day on the job someone thinks the website is a joke! yes , my first day.
members, the website is what we make it. i have been given the power to try to keep control of things. i would like to thank a couple of annonymous moderators who have offended a lot of people. please back off ! also i would like to thank mr jeff. he has done his best although his efferts were hindered by others !
why did i request the opportunity to moderate this site? simple. i have loved fishing all my life. i did not have a computor to learn from. fortunately my father filled the role.
in todays world the computor is the only sourse of knowledge/information available to some. i have followed this site for some time and came to the conclusion it was possible to make sharphooks a worthwhile place to check for the latest gossip, information on where the fish are biting and how to catch them. it should be a friendly place where noone is scared to post something. certainly this is the internet and there are those who take delight in beating you to death if you screw up. i will try to cussion the blow but cannot protect anyone who "asks for it ".
in the past some mebers have been extremely helpful in providing tips and knowhow . i would really like to encourage others to join in. i would also like to see some of the members of the past who chose not to frequent sharphooks. bentley was a very valuable member as was chakaraka. if anyone knows these former members ask them to give it another try. there are many others i have not seen on site for months who would be most welcome back !
part of my plan as moderator is to try and provide some learning assitance to some of our members who come here seeking help. abe has done a super job. we need more ! issues which seem to attract a lot of attention and tension include reading the regs and catch and release. i want someone to start a thread with some things everyone needs to know.
please give me a chance before getting the stake ready for the roast! if all of the members try and work together you should not even know i exist. now who is going to start a thread on c + r or some other fishing topic.
by the way, although i may wish i had not said this, i do not wish to use the delete button except for foul languge etc. if someone goes to the effert of typing something worthwhile it should not be wiped out. try to not force the use of the delete !
