Is it a good time to fish for bows at Jones lake?
How is the road to the lake?
From what ive heard a float with a worm works good or wordens rooster tails work good.
Is it true?
Thanks
Chody

ive seen cars up there, but the road is steep and rough.

last fall i took my 2003 hyundia sonata up there i drive this thing like a 4x4 there are a few rough spots with deep rutts fyi if bringing a boat there are lots of stumps just under the surface i have a ten foot inflatable had a few close calls the fishing was pretty good hope this helps

Is shore fishing any good here? I have heard mixed opinions on this, read one report where a guy claimed he was shore fishing and bringing them in while the guys out on the water were getting nothing. I would assume if you shorefish there the better spot would be around the dam?

theres 2 good shore spots, one is at the parking lot grass beach (you fish by a river inlet) the other is halfway down the lake, smaller creek inlet, very rocky usually a party spot but i assume its quiet by now

What tends to work best, float or bottom fishing and on what bait?

Fishing should be good for a couple more weeks, but Ive never fished jones this time of year. worms hooked on a wedding band usually work when casting, if lazy, just throw a worm on a hook with a decent leader. try different depths.

The only way I would go to that lake when it is in peak season is if I had an inflatable which I hope to get soon once I start working again. Man they sure are alot cheaper these days compared to when the old belly boats came out. I have always liked winter fishing, yes the fish aren't as active but if you can find them and get that bait in front of them they will bite.

exactly, i just picked up my first belly boat this summer just patched the leak, so im going to go float around this weekend.

I fish Jones alot and have some tips for you...

Black with red flies, anything with these two colors..

Black red/flash micro leaches, doc spratley, black wolly bugger. If you only have access fom shore try an get as far as you can down the lake, if possible bring waders and walk out a bit to get a better casting distance.

I always fish it with my boat but usually run tight to shore and get alot of fish trolling anything black/red.

Thanks for the tips, I would imagine this time of year it would be starting to get to a point where one needs a 4x4 or chains to get up that road? With winter and coming on and all
Chody

if theres a crap ton of snow mabie, but it should be fine
