i was told they have no parking signs all along the road. anyone have any idea if this is correct and if so why they did this? there are no private residences on that side of the road so no driveways to block. it was not exactly a traffic problem. any comments/ideas? it seems rather strange that all the fishing spots have no parking. do you have to have a boat to fish in the lower mainland?

I think the signs on the west side of the river were put up for safety of the school kids.Fishermen were blocking the shoulder. If you park well off the road it shouldn't be a problem.I did it today along with several others and saw no tickets. It may be different on school days

If it was a safety issue for school kids it would say " no parking on week days or between 7:30 and 4:00 " there has to be a reason for the signs .I can see no parking on week days for safety purposes , but give us a break on weekends .

Sorry.I should have said the MAIN reason was school kids. Many pedestrians and cyclist use the shoulder on weekends too.If you do decide to risk a ticket or tow;just find a spot that you can pull over far enough so that people have lots of room to get by. It is unreal how fast some people fly up that road, including tandem dump trucks. There is also a park with a parking for about 20 cars just south of the hydro entrance. There is lots of river access within a 5min walk

another reason is the city doesnt want people parking and dumping garbage along that side of the road way

Yesterday I went to the parking lot on the east side of the river before the dam and there were many spots. River was right there too. Maybe it was like that because the season is slow though.. didnt see anyone catching yesterday

just came from the parking lot area and it was packed.. I parked outside the gate and walked 5 minutes just fine though. People left around 5 pm though and it became fine.
