Topic: October Coho retention? |

Does anybody know or have any idea if there will be any Coho retention in the fraser mid Oct? (Probably Chilliwack area) I'm thinking probably not but figured I would ask anyways. I have a trip planned for one day sturgeon and one day salmon around 20th of October and just curious if I will be allowed to keep any salmon?....I know there will be chum then as well but not really sure that they are worth keeping unless smoking them (which I don't have a smoker so I doubt I will keep them either, haven't really thought about it too much yet, lol)
Thanks

If u've read the regulations, u'd know that coho salmon fishing opens in mid October on the Fraser.

Thanks for the link...I think I looked at and found everything but that one, lol....may have even just simply overlooked that particular one, my bad if so.........so far if I understand it correctly then......as of right now it will be 2 hatchery fish allowed per day.....can anyone tell me if there is usually or ever any wild openings and if not then is there still decent numbers of hatchery fish for the most part?...we will be heading out on a boat with someone much more familiar with the area that I so im sure he will be able to put us on the fish but im just trying to get a better idea as to what I am looking at being able to come home with for that time of year ;-P
Cheers

I would say no there will unlikely be wild coho retention in the fraser. And yes, there are probably more hatchery fish than wild because so many of the fraser tribs have attached hatchery rivers - but it depends what section you are fishing of course

Yeah, heard that as well but we are headin out in the boat with a guide for one day sturgeon and one day Salmon...not even sure of the guide yet as it was a friend who booked it and such....who knows maybe we will end up in the vedder anyways but I have my doubts.....may even just come up a day or two early or stay a day or two later and bring our own gear as well and hit the vedder on our own.....probably quite busy there that time I would imagine though and we are not really looking at getting into a gong show, lol
