hard to catch them in the tidal waters especially sockeye...u gonna have to bottom bounce to get them..the pinks will take anything with pink, orange or silver...i like to use silver blade spinners with orange beads...pink salmon actually bite and fun to catch and taste good too...4 per day...u can see them when they are running....they skim the surface of the water and they run close to the shoreline so no need to cast 100 yards...and barbless hooks

Pinks probably the best target for you & will be building over the next few weeks in the lower fraser.
They'll take just about anything pink. Google it & head to your local fishing store. Hooking one of these guys on light tackle is a blast (I stern hooked one last night - thought I'd hooked a spring for the first 10 minutes before he finally surfaced - took a few minutes for him to recover enough to swim off). Key is retrieve slow. I have trouble with this, spent an afternoon fishing next to a fellow who periodically looked at me & reminded me to slow down. If it wasnt for the fact that i usually hooked a fish right after he reminded me, i'd have discounted as bunk.
There are a couple of bars just east of fort langley on the south shore that should work ok - in metro vancouver parks, shouldnt be too hard to find.
good luck
