Hello i have decided to try and fish buck-tails in Mabel Sugar and Okanagan this fall but having never fished them before I was hoping for some advice on line setup for both down rigger and Surface... travel speed ect...Any info will be welcome thanks!!! p.s. I hear just running them off the surface is a better way to fish them then downrigging, is this true?

used to fish ok lk a lot. we trolled bucktails on the surface at a fast speed. choppy water was best. the speed was quite fast, the boat would almost start to lift sort of thing.
more recently i have fished shuswap lk with a down rigger. obviously you cannot go nearly as fast but i found it best to go a fast trolling speed.
let us know how you make out.

Thanks I will let ya know. when you say fast your talking 3 mh / 5km? any specal colors you found the trout like best?
cagey

maybe 6 kmh? colours to look like small kokanee? the big ones they use in the kootenays are a bit much. small/simple is what i prefer.
