Hi everybody, I'm new to BC and this forum and live in Kelowna. I tried fishing for a couple of times in Wood Lake. Every time without luck. I'm from Germany and never used to fish for trout or on a boat. I found quite a few useful information through google but would like to ask you guys if you could give me some advise for Wood Lake or any other Lake close to Kelowna.
Thanks in advance Heiko

wood lk has rainbow trout and kokanee. you can only keep 2 kokanee per day plus, i believe 6 trout (check the regs for the regional possession limits. to catch kokanee , which are very good eating and weigh around 1 1/2 pounds to 2 pounds in wood lk, you troll for them.i prefer to just troll a red fly / try and get it 20 to 25 feet deep either by using weights or a sinking fly line. put a pink maggot on the fly. you can buy the maggots at gas stations, sports shops etc which sell "live bait". the "popular" method is to troll a willow leaf gang troll or some sort of troll with a wedding ring lure with the pink maggot on the hook. again get the troll down 20 or so feet. kokanee are usually towards the centre part of the lake, not too close to shore (where the trout are more likely to be). if you fly fish there are 100's of small lakes around kelowna with lots of trout. check out "fishing spots" on this site for the names of some lakes near kelowna area. some of the best are close to the coquihalla connector, such as penask lk. good luck, and tell us how you do.
