Topic: Vedder river trout |

Just wondering what the trout fishing in the vedder(lickman area) is like, i hear there is cutty's and rainbows, how are they to catch. Just looking for somewhere to take the rugrats to run while i throw a line in.

Fly fishing only below the vedder crossing until may 31st. No fishing allowed June 1st until July 1st. There are many smaller rainbows throughout the system. Good luck

Kinda a sore area for lots of ppl including myself... see guys out there catching and keeping these rainbows, which you are allowed to do (2 hatchery) but these are juvenile steelhead !!! they will come back anywhere up to 20 lbs ! I wish they would close retention on these rainbows/cutties in the vedder... would probaly make for better steelhead seasons. Please if fishing for them, use a lage enough hook that they won't swallow it, and treat these babies with respect and handle with care, they can and will come back as monsters in a few years. Thank you very much.

i saw some asians fishing down there when i was walking my dogs on the dyke the other day. i watched the one guy yard in a small tout, they were going to keep it so i went up and told them that it wasnt a trout "its a juvinile steelhead" i said, and then told them "you have to relese it" he let it go and the guy seemed happy that he had caught his first steelhead. LOL
