Reading Chaks report on Okanagan Lake 11th May I want to share with you this web site:
Windfinder
It is fairly accurate and the report for the 11th put me off even considering fishing. It was forcast a week before and stood the test. Hope you find it usefull.

Interesting, I will add that to my arsenal. But we so often go at a moment's notice. Guess I need a waterproof lap-top for the Canoe too...

glad you learned a lesson from that lake. not made for canoes ! i have had similqr encounters in 16 + ft boats. scary!

Agree with cagey (with no 'n' apologies), but you can choose your Lake more carefully. I have fished the Okanagan in my 12ft row boat with 6hp o/b. But with a forecast and a marine radio.
If it's windy fish a small lake, can't do without your reposts Chaka. Keep safe.

We had all the appropriate safety equipment for a boat that size, and that was why I was staying so close to shore. No way you would catch me out in the middle of that lake without a bigger boat with us. We knew when enough was enough because I pretty much grew up on boats. I am considering a fish-finder and maybe even lights, but I will not be adding any other electronics to a canoe. You lost me on the reposts comment though. Once my comfort level was exceeded I knew when it was time to beach. Not the greatest night, but we did not go "swimming", did not lose anything or get hurt and we have a hell of a story now in addition to a good reason to stick to the smaller lakes. I will check your site first too MrJeff now that I know it exists...
