going camping may long at jones lake, hoping to cast out from shore and catch something?? any techniques or what bait??

it's really muddy around most of that lake...bring some gum boots.....there is a mountain run-off area on the west side with a sandy shore, which is the easiest place to get close to the water......worm and bobber with some weight so yo can cast out far enough? I've only fished there once. Don't bring booze, the 5-0 is there on long weekends, and they will take it from you

thanks alot for the information! when i went we went down the west side and we hit a gate and down the east side we hit to much snow hoping it melts a little more by the long weekend...we couldnt get all the way around the lakie tho im assuming the east jones fsr road will take you there just the snow was in the way?

You want to go up the side with the private cabins.
A couple years ago they decommissioned the bridge at the fsr end of the lake fora number of reason, but in the process took away alot of good camping areas.
Fished this lake alot, and you'll find that some of the best fishing is at the southern end before the lake narrows into the shallow bay, although sometimes the fishing can be quite spectacular in this bay as well.

we went up the side witht the private cabins a ways..till we hit a gate...any idea if that will be open by may long, thanks
