I'm heading out to the Lake of the woods for my first time. I'm a newbie so any tips would be helpful. Cheers!

I fish Lake of the woods a fair amount. I usually use my U boat and troll a green Doc or a black leech on a medium sink line or a floating line with a small split shot on the leader.I find the end of the lake opposite the cabins ( near the rocks ) is the most productive.I've tried bait fishing but rarely catch a fish on bait.

Thanks for the tips! I'll keep this in mind next time. I'll probably take the canoe out and troll. Or go to the rocks and cast off.

I have fished this lake for the past two years. I have had lots of luck fly fishing DEEP. trolling with different leeches around the center.

Yup, leeches for sure, did well with an egg sucking leech last time

i fished this lake last week with a buddy we took my inflatable out with an electric motor speed on 1 double red bead wedding band #2 splitshot and a small hunk of worm in 5 hours caught 25 fish they were doing road work and had the parking lot blocked off so it can be tricky to launch a boat
