going to be wandering out yellow, twin lake, trout that area anyone been on the ice!! or too early

be careful.as per previous post the lakes have ice on them in the okanagan BUT it is not good ice and not too thick.
i was by pillar lk near falkland the other day. there were tracks around the edge of the lake then some that went right across.......stupic but he appared to make it! why would anyone walk across on thin ice when the fishing was done within 10 ft of shore.

I have never done Ice Fishing before. Only started fishing last year. One or two guys have threatened to take me with them. I found an ice fishing rod for $5, so I guess that is a start.
Is this just for the sport or do the fish taste good. I guess they would stay fresher in the cold.
I have been told that Darke Lake may be nearly ready but please heed the warnings.

OHH YEAH went today to darke and ohh boy ice is about 5inch thick stayd about within 50 feet of shore there is a bubbly white layer on top from snow that will trip you out but we drilled and was still very thickbut that is only really far out. where we where was awsome fishin about 13 foot deep maybe a bit less great day caught at least 20 or more didnt wanna keep any but my buddy wanted them so we kept 4 nice ones I personally didnt keep any haha largest was 14 inch all brookies one or two rainbow. Are brook good to eat? i never have, my buddy says they are
