Topic: Weaver Lake Question |

I don't have a fancy 4x4 - instead I have a 10 yr Dodge Caravan. I'd like to try Weaver Lake and was wondering who has been there lately and if my van will make it. I know there is s steep hill going up to it.
What are your thoughts ?

I was there last week..... I guess it depends on how much you like your caravan. I have a cherokee and easily made it in 2 wheel drive. There is a bit of a steep climb for the last 1 or 2 kms and there are some rocks about the size of a cantaloupe but there were cars up there, so it is possible. We didn't catch too much but that is probably due to the warmth of the lake right now. The parks guy said until about 3 weeks ago they were biting like crazy.

You WILL get some minor damage to your car. There are some nasty spots. Steep and rocky. I think its actually very unsafe to try and make it there in anything other than 4 wheel drive. Be warned.

I didn't say the fish don't bite at all. I caught a few that weekend and had a fair amount of bites. But it's been my experience (somewhat limited) that the hot summer months are slower then spring and fall. Furthermore, the fish tend to be smaller as well. These are by no means rules, merely observations. Maybe I just haven't been lucky enough to be honored with the guidance of an expert such as yourself.

I had marginal success around the deep hole near the 2 large islands trolling a fly deep. good luck!
