any ideas when the ice will be off the lakes near merritt? 1000 m.a.s.l. roughly for most of my favourites.

i'd check at the sports shop. i believe it is powderkeg sports but not sure. the lower lakes will be fine but you don't get too high before you can hit ice. it still gets pretty cold up high. at sun peaks ski hill it was minus 6 this morning. just to give you a bit of an idea. (i live near chase myself so can't comment to accurately on the merritt area. i know at 100 mi house today there was still ice on some of the ponds along the hwy but the lakes were open.

tunkwa resort is a good info source. thanks again. apr.19 report 90% of ice honeycombed with large fishable clear spots. one more week and it should be all gone. yayyy!!
