saw an article about a guy who caught a huge trout. they were genetically modified to grow instead of reproducing.escaped into the lake. world record. should the record be allowed? the guy's brother caught a 43 pounder prior. is it a good thing they don't reproduce? imagine landing one! my little wal-mart boat zooming around the lake?

yea this one
I don't think so and they should get fined for releasing fish into lakes but it was in saskachewan and I don't know what there regulations are like.

The 'genetic modification' is simply a triploidation process which most rainbow trout stocked in lower mainland lakes undergo.

dude just read a topic on it and 7 years ago the lake was a local commercial hatchery and the lake froze and all the pens broke open and thousands of small triploid rainbow where released into the lake, since the fish have been gorging on the large baitfish in the lake and have reportedly been putting on 7 pounds a year. I really want to go fish there.

Dude that lake should be like banned for like 2 years and let them get to like 70 pounds or something now that would be impresive.

reuters states about 10 years ago the net pens broke and released 500,000 10 to 12 pound fish. they are crossbred with steelhead. the twin bros were releasing 20 to 30 pounders trying to get the biggies. also it said male triploids will mature sexually eventually and interfere with diploid spawning. if barry bonds' record holds then this fish will be the record, but is not a bow, only half bow. if a huge fallow deer escapes and i get it, is that a record?
