Does anyone have information on this lake? This is not listed on the website but I have visited it.
Is it possible to have this lake listed?

Hey there buds, ya Sawmill (also known at Burnell) is doing pretty decent for fishing this year however, is suffering a major water issue. 3 years ago a recovery plan was unfolded to try and solve the drout it was in danger from but this year the water level got extremely low again..so low actually a high section in the lake is now above water, dividing the lake into 2 separate parts. The fish are obviously struggling from a lack of O2 but the actual fishing is still quite productive. Your best bet really i think is to wait another month when Madden Lake really starts to pick up. Hope this helps, cheers

Yes, thank you for the info. I hope that there is some recovery and it does not end up as two muddy puddles. I guess, at this time of year, that best fishing is in the early morning or late evening.

I'd not bother with Sawmill 'til at least mid Sept...unless you like catchin' dishrags...just my .02

Thank you for your advice, I know you mean well, but as a beginner, it is good to have the experience of being skunked a few times. Also to get the best possible learning curve, however steep, is to fish when it is hard to make a catch. So I don't mind the odd sock and will look forward to later in the year when things get a bit better.

was thinkin' more of the fish...hot temps cause stress in them fish...mid Sept the temps are more reasonable for the caught fish to recover...just a thought...was up to Nickle Plate last Teusday...water temp was 56 F...fish were deep...got 2 tiddlers and one of about 15"...a nice cool day

Hey, thanks for straightening me out, but I guess both fish and lake could do with recovery.
Is Nickel easy to access? 2wd OK?
