That small fish was caught near the mouth of Fraser (salt water). In fact there were many of them (travel in schools). It has relatively big mouth with teeth (on the photo hook masks the mouth).

What is this?

Fishing area 29-3. Trebles are Ok for salt water. In fact, you cannot buy any jigs with a single hook. And if not fishing for salmon - Ok to leave barbs as well.

Dumb people are usually abusive ... probably unhappy about themselves.

Looks like a tom cod to me. Glad to see they are back, there used to be 100's of thousands of them in the late 60's.
Alex

Tomcod / Frost Fish for sure - they move into Fraser for spawning in September - October and rearly exceed 12". These are very agressive fish and will go after anything - not surpised they went after a jig of their size based on the hook size. Daily limit for the tidal Fraser was 8 if I recall correctly, but in salt water it would probably be classified under "other fish" - 20 per day.

It's 8 fish per day in ALL areas in BC!!! Why don't people check the reg and link it instead of posting what they think the reg says??? if ur running a fishing website u better give out correct info.

Wow ! I like this site but some of the posts on this site are down right rude. How about being tackfully helpfull and friendly instead of beating people up? Are we not all fellow fun sport fishermen ? I agree Relax and have fun!

I want to thank you all for the great hints and advise I have read here ! Good job !

Why are some people on this website so negative and insulting
fisher 696

Unhappy childhoods and a lousy up-bringing. Additionally the internet is the only place they can get away with saying what they do. Hiding behind a keyboard is easy, most of what gets said here would earn a black eye or a fat lip in real life and they are not prepared to pay that price.

Ha hahahaha so true. They have no balls!! People need to chill I don't know about Ya'll but I came to this site to learn about fishing in BC. Not to read about babies and their tantroms.

Does any one know if these little buggers taste good? or Any advise on fishing them, they sound like they would be good for kids to fish.
