I'm wondering what people think is the best freshwater bait for trout. I've had success with powerbait eggs, chartreuse color. Any other colors I should invest in?

try a red wedding band with any trout power bait.

depends on the time of year and what insect species are active.may , bloodworms, june, leeches. in mid september a zillion small flies were landing on otter lake causing big rises.

there slimy, sticky, brown and girls hate when ya eat them.... WORMS! any worm set straight on a hooks then pulled through the water looks like a ... LEECH! most every trout will eat a leech at anytime of the year. now add a little flash infront of that and you might as well be using dynamite... cause your netting up all them little buggers. of course depending whats going on in the lake at that time of year... flies, roe, worms and good ole powerbait will put a lil stink in your frying pan!

he's right.worms or leeches work all season. note how a worm is properly hooked up (girls hate this too) or you are just feeding the fish
