Alright, this is the year. I want to catch some serious salmon ! I live in vancouver and plan on fishing after work (5pm) everyday that the salmon are running. I need some hot spots that are in the area (general area). This is going to be my first real season for salmon fishing, so any tips or anything you guys' got would be very appriciated. Thanks!

Fraser is still good for Springs, but you will have to go way up the river (Chilliwack to Hope). Soon we expect Vedder to produce some fish, but no encouraging reports yet. All of these require some driving and hitting these spots after 5pm might be challenging.
Personally I haven't had much success in the lower Fraser fishing for salmon from shore.
If you have a boat - there are plenty of places to go: Spanish Banks, T10, Fraser Mouth/South, etc.

Hey sausagefest, if you want to get into fishing salmon, try the Capilano river if your Vancouver area or try the Vedder river if your out towards the valley. Stop in to High water tackle in Vancouver or Reaction tackle in Abbotsford.
Both these rivers are my personal favs and offer alot to a beginner fisherman. There isnt alot in the rivers right now but in a few weeks watch for them to start firing up. The Seymore River is another river that i hear has coho, never fished that one.
But to get ready, grab your gear now while there is lots of coho supplies in the stores and get out on the rivers and practice. Both these rivers get very busy and can get to be shoulder to shoulder in many spots. Better to have an idea of how it works before you piss someone off next to you because you havent put the time in before to learn.
And most of all, know your regs for the river and study the fish. You must be able to identify your fish or you could end up killing a fish that your not allowed to be killing.
Good luck
