Hi all, I'm new to both this forum and to BC. I'm traditionally a bass fisherman from out east but I found your forum and thought I'd ask what people are using for lures/bait when lake fishing for trout out here. I spent this past Saturday at Callaghan Lake and didn't get a single strike. I tried a variety of lures (Mepps Black Fury #1&3, other assorted silvery spoons, flatfish) at a variety of depths and distances from shore but no luck. I'm planning on returning to the lake in September and I'd like to be better prepared. Suggestions?

For troutfishing in BC, flyfishing is most popular. Lots of people do use worms and powerbaits as well. Cooked shrimp works too. I'd invest in a flyrod and some lessons.

Thanks for the input. I never would have thought of cooked shrimp. I'll give the live bait a try as well and report back. I fish from my kayak a lot so I don't know how fly fishing would work with that but I'll look into it.
