Hey people, just wondering how rivers were fishing up by squamish? I'm looking for trout moreso than steelhead! Any techniques, locations etc would be appreciated.

Go to Brohm lake, just few miles from Squamish. Park on the right side before "main entrance". Cross highway and fish. You will get a lot of cutties. A lot of small fish but if your bait is going deeper then you can be surprise. Go with simple worm:-) Otherwise no good fishing at rivers in Sqaumish area in this time... There is a Cat lake as well but fishing there is useless...

quite different for me. I have caught nothing at brohm lake but at cat lake using a worm you catch fish every minute or less. it's pretty much cast and fish is on.

this is at cat lake. fish there attack like piranhas so bring a lot of worms

both these statments are way off and totaly wrong. My suggestion is for you to go up and try the Cheakamus, Mamquam and Sqaumish rivers yourself and learn that fishing up that way can be VERY rewarding.Cat lake also has some large fish and at this time of the year they are near the surface and feeding for most of the day. Dont listen to people who have no idea what they are talking about.

I was talking about my experience. I was always lucky on Brohm, on Cat lake just small fish this time of year. And guy who asked question can always try both locations. April is much better for Cat lake. If you know what are you talking about then read first DFO limitation on the rivers you mentioned. I mean in this time of year. I'm sorry for different opinion:-)

Try the Mamquam FSR. Its the first turn right after the Chief provincial park. Very nice spots, especially if you go about 10-15 km in, there is a hydro station with some deep pools, as well as a bridge where its pretty deep. Check the regs for when to go.

I dont know what you mean. All are valid places to fish at all times of the year.
If you mean anything about retention I dont keep my fish so that doesnt apply.
Catch and release is the way to go for rivers IMO. Especially up the Sea to Sky corridor...

hey in squamish garibaldi provincial park at the garibaldi lake its a 7km hike there but its worth it i caught 13 trouts my biggest one was 38 cm 2.7 pounds
