Am planning a trip to my new property at Paul Lake this spring. Would like to get a little fishing in while I'm there. Does anyone know when the ice usually goes off this lake?

I fished it I think in April some time last year. Paul is a really fun lake to fish. there are some big fish in there but tend to be harder to find with all the 12-15 inchers kicking around. Beautiful lake for trolling gear or fly fishing.

Thanks Dereke, makes sense - ice should be off before most lakes in northern Alberta here!

I was at Paul lake last year and did not have a good time. Lake is too big and busy with boats. To get to the shoal you gotta paddle almost to the middle of the lake after fighting with thick weeds and water plants. You have to be careful not to stick your feet or hands in water or you'll be covered in leeches. seen swimmers trying to swim in thick weeds and when they got out they were picking off those blood suckers. yikes.

it is off came off april 11 but it is a bit chilly
