Topic: release clips |

Is there a trick for using the release clips? My line keeps slipping off. If I put it in too deep it does not release at all. Also I am fishing in the great lakes, some suggest I let out 15-30 feet lead behind my boat and some say 75 to 100 feet. Any advise, I could sure use some.
