Where is there a good place in the lower mainland that kids could fish for pinks from shore? Something that has good access, and kids could cast easily. I know myself there is no garantee catching a fish when you want to, but it would be nice to give a couple of kids a great opportunity. Any specific pink lure or spoon you would use. I don't need an answer that says anything pink. HA HA guys.

You can go on Vedder. There are many places. My 10 years old daughter got pinks there (exit on Lickman road and straight to the river). You can use a 10 lb line with a styrofoam float that drifts 1/4 of a pencil lead, and shortly up on the line couple of salmon eggs on a number 4 or 2 hook. The eggs should drift on the bottom. I used orange artificial powerbait eggs. is vedder opened for pinks? are the pinks already there?

the hook must be tied on a 15-25 inch leader, and the leader must be tied on the line as i said; actually you can tie the leader directly on the ring of the pencil lead. you can use heavier line if you wish.

Are the pinks worth taking home or are they like chums and should be released back?

By the time the Chum reach the Vedder they have become toxic tigers....Pinks however are ok to eat ( I prefer to smoke them) as long as you catch them before they reach full spawning condition. The closer they get to spawning the bigger their humps become.

I was thinking closer to the vancouver richmond area. Do you know what it's like to drive an hour anf a half with four kids in the back seat? I have been to the veder myself for pinks. What about the saltwater areas? Anything, anybody?

I have had success on river road in Delta. About a mile downstream of the Alex Fraser. Fished on an incoming tide, there are times when it looks like you could walk across the river on their backs. It is forecast that this years run may contain as many as 30 million fish!!!!! When they arrive, you can catch them just about anywhere.
