mcs, it seems you are some what local to the South Okanagan. I was wondering if you have ever fished Green Lake near OK Falls. I have heard that there is trout in the lake, but I have never seen anyone fishing there. Any idea if its worth a try?

im not mcs...but, Ive heard of a Yellow lake around there...I was under the impression it had bass in it. I could be wrong. I threw some stuff in there for a little while on the way home from kelowna along the princeton route but didn't get anything. I fished shannon lake for about an hour and a half and got 5 fish. The biggest was two pounds. Right in near shore, I casted a white buzz bait and he zoomed out of the bullrushes 7 feet away and smashed the shit out of it...man bass fishing can be fun sometimes!

exkamiflyfisher; thanks for the reply. I too have fished Yellow lake a few years back. I got a couple of nice trout. I heard that there was a serious winter kill a couple of years ago. Now apparently the dominant fish is perch To bad. Its a very pretty little lake. But Green Lake is actually on the back road between OK Falls and Oliver. I will give Shannon Lake a try sometime soon.

Hey, im from the area as well and green lake does not have any fish in it due to its Low PH levels. It cannot support trout for any period of time, so, although the lake looks like a good little piece of water, it is fish free. As far as yellow goes there was a mild winter kill a last spring, however it wasnt anything significant, there is still a very strong trout population, brooks and rainbows are the dominant species. there are also a small population of smallmouth and a decent population of perch in the lake.

Yea Yellow had a bad kill off last year because of the airator failing, but they re stocked it and there are still tons of perch in it. Green lake is decent right now, Allendale and Solco are pretty good right now too. Dry flies, cadis, sedge are working well, lots of nice wild trout

I have been to Green Lake many times. I have been swimming there and I have seen only one fish ever.... a very large gold fish! Yeah, it's true! Apparently some one dumped goldfish in green lake and they survived! I didn't think there were any fish in the lake either because of it's akaline base but I defintely saw a large goldfish and others had seen this fish as well. Also, a guy used to snorkle there and he said he seen them too. More than one! This was some years ago so I am not sure if they are still there. Anyway, no fishing in green lake but it is a great swim on a hot okanagan summer day ;-)
