Hi everyone. i have a 11 foot dinghi, the SEAHAWK 500. i was wondering if i could get a trolling motor for this, and if i could use it in big lakes. i was also looking for specifications on the motor that would work alright. ex. like the shaft length, weight, voltage etc. and what accesories i need to charge it up, and so on. your reply would be much appreciated. Both MinnKota and Motorguide are reliable. For 11' boat 36lb thrust should be quite adequate, but the bigger - the better. It will only drain the battery faster on full tilt.

Always go for variable speed, rather then multi-speeds. Maximizer (or DA) technology really saves the energey and extends the running time.

Deep cycle or RV battery is a must. Standard car battery will die after you recharge it a dozen times. An insulated battery box might be helpfull.
