Cant find out if either river in langley or cloverdale is salt or freshwater ,what Licence do you need the guy at army and navey dint know, any help to fish the right way would be good
cagey

I think the proper question would be tidal or non-tidal, not fresh or salt. I'd suggest you contact Fish and Wildlife. I brought back an old post "understanding the fishing regulations" with a link to Wildlife.
I have asked several questions since then and got excellent responses.

Blueboy, look at the regs. In the Region 2 synopsis the fresh water boundaries for the various rivers are identified. Upstream is non-tidal and you need regular non-tidal licence. Downstream you need the tidal licence (or were calling it, a salt water licence) and must refer to the tidal regulations. If you are not positive email the CO's as I suggested

thanks cagey your right it is salt water thanks
Blueboy

both rivers are tidal -brackish water salt water
clarki

Yes, the Nicomekl and Serpentine are tidal-influenced rivers, but Cagey is correct, you need to refer to the tidal/non-tidal boundaries as indicated in the regulations.

Provincial freshwater regulations apply above these boundaries and Federal tidal regulations apply below these boundaries.

The boundary for both rivers is the BNR bridge. Since that is right at the mouth of both rivers, for all intents and purposes, the entire river is considered non-tidal
