Hello everyone,
I was up at 100 mile house this weekend trying to catch some Lakers in Horse Lake. This is what I caught 70' down at the bottom. Is this a Dolly, Lake trout or a Bull trout?
This fish was only out of the water for a few seconds before it spit the hook and jumped back into the water.
Thanks everyone.

Here is a bull.

This is a laker:
Note the vermiculation on the back. I think your fish was a small laker.

Nice fish! Mine has the vermiculation lines on its back so you've ruled out it being a bull trout and it looks like I caught my first (very small) Laker! Thanks for the reply Knnn. You really know your stuff.
Cheers

Based on my limited experience, char seem to like chartreuse colours lures and it's one of the colours that still show up at the greatest depth:

I'm moving to 100 mile house on Monday for work and I just went and picked up some blue/silver and some green/silver spoons. Some great info coming out through this feed thanks everyone!

I will of course swap out the treble hook on the Len Thompson spoon.

Here is a better pic of the Apex. When trolling for Rainbows I'm always switching between Apex and a small HotShot. Figured a large badass Apex for some large badass Lakers!

I've been watching some Lake Trout fishing videos and it seems there is always green on the spoons they are using.

You can always spray one side with chartreuse glow in the dark paint....

And I'm off to buy paint. I will have to do some experimenting for sure.

Here are some examples of blank spoons I painted, with Canadian tire fluorescent paints. Its cheep and works well, particularly if you rough up the metal surface first and apply a white primer. Makes the colour pop.

I always carry a few Buzz Bombs in my tackle box so I will have to try them out. I arrived at 100 Mile House today to start my new life...which will consist of mostly lake trout fishing.

Those custom painted spoons look great @Knnn. I build model's in the winter so I will have to start experimenting with painting spoons. I will keep everyone posted over the next few weeks on how the Lake Trout fishing goes and how the various lures worked for me.
