Just started fishing, and I'm hooked on it. Was wondering if anyone knew of any good canals, sloughs, small creeks or rivers from Vancouver to Mission that are open this time of year? Don't really care what I'm going to catch at this point, just want to get out and keep learning.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!

What type of fishing are you doing, bait, spinners/spoons or fly? Are you a bank dweller or have a boat?
Best bet at this time of year are stocked lakes in the lower mainland. This is a great web site for more information:

Further a field its a great time to cash trout in the interior lakes using chironomids.
In most sloughs in the areas you mentioned a float or bottom rig with worms will catch you trout and pike minnow.
As for what is or is not open, please be very careful to read the Region 2 fishing regulations.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I would be a bank dweller? No boat. Do you know of any good sloughs or anything? Thanks!

Hey bud,
Head up towards Pitt Lake and on the last right turn before the boat launch there are some sloughs around with lots of smallmouth bass in them. You will see a white gate walk past it and explore.
Use something like a Roostertail Camo or trout color that's easy to cast and makes some vibration in the water.
