Total longshot but could some folks give a good heads up on how to get to chehalis and where to go once I park there? I've heard of the "canyon"....anymore info really appreciated. Thanks!

Turn left (north) off Lougheed at Morris Valley road, head past the hatchery to the bridge over the Chehalis. Beginning of the canyon is upstream of the bridge. Or just look for all the parked vehicles.

You can find the Chehalis river campground. It's on the river. There are paths that go both downriver and upriver from there. Walking downriver you will see some spots and people fishing.
I have not fished upriver from there because I hear the canyon can get pretty hairy. That being said, it might be worth spending a few hours walking up the canyon w/o your gear just to get an idea.
BTW, the regs. state where you can fish in relation to the hatchery. Also, the river closes in the Summer.

The Chehalis does NOT close in the summer. Please show me in the regulations where it says the river is closed in the summer.

You are correct, my mistake. It looks like it closes in May, but not the rest of the Summer. Sorry about that.

Take I-5 to Grand Mound and turn west onto U.S.12, following the river downstream.
