I've been searching the regs. and I believe w/ gear fishing (freshwater lake) you can only have one rod. If you are fly fishing you are allowed two (1 fly, 1 gear).
Is this reg. of 1 rod/person when ice fishing current?

My son and I had a great time ice fishing last weekend; however, saw several fishermen w/ several rods each. Breaking the regs, or outdated reg?

I have not checked the regs BUT I am confident they have not changed. You are allowed one rod only when fishing unless you are alone in a boat at which time you are allowed two rods. fly fishing does not get you a 2nd rod. being alone in the boat does. ice fishing is not done from a boat so you had a bunch of law breakers fishing alongside you and your son!!

Interesting. I thought you were only allowed two rods (on a boat/belly boat) if one was a fly fishing rod. I now see in the regs that you are correct. Thanks.
